The Skinny on Lubrication:
Skin Lubricant is designed to supplement the body’s natural wetness, enhancing arousal and the pleasures of intimacy. They can decrease painful friction during sex, and make condoms feel more comfortable, pleasurable and natural. Reducing friction also helps to keep condoms intact. So, which lube should I use you ask? When choosing, keep the following in mind:
Pros- Safe with latex condoms and all sex toy materials. Does not stain fabric. Easy clean up.
Cons- H2O based lubes dry out more quickly and may need to be reapplied. Not optimal for use during ‘aquatic play.’
Pros- Long lasting, ideal for intimate moments in water (ex: swimming pool, hot tub, shower.)
Cons- Should not be used with silicone or CyberSkin sex toys. May stain delicate fabrics.
Pros- Many are all natural, good for those with sensitive skin. Also a good alternative for fun in the water.
Cons- NOT LATEX CONDOM OR POLYISOPRENE CONDOM SAFE! They can make these types of condoms porous, causing them to rip and tear. (Oil based lubes can be used with condoms made from nitrile, or polyurethane.) Harder to clean off than water-based lubes.
Pros- Usually a fusion of silicone and water- you get to enjoy the natural feeling of water-based lubes while also getting the benefits of a longer lasting silicone formula.
Cons- Just remember that, like any lube that contains silicone, a hybrid lube can put some serious wear and tear on your silicone toys, so avoid using them together
